    A bit late.

Raises the interesting question: is it worth $100 more than an AD400Pro?

As soon as they release a model with a remote head that can be used WITH the built-in head, I’m in!

Seems like the original is the better deal

TTL might be a shortcut to getting correct exposure and then locking it down, but IMO saving the money and learning how to set up your lights is the better way to be in control of your craft.
It saves some money and it will be on sale every once in a while so it becomes even a better bargain.

OTOH, at resale time the TTL allows you to sell it to the beginners.

Not sure why this model even exists. Why fragment the “Pro” line by adding models that aren’t full-featured.
It seems like one more separate item to build, market, ship, and add to the confusion.

      Well stated Jared!

      Hi Jared,

I think simply because a lot of people were asking Adorama for this. Some people are not interested in the TTL at all, so they don’t want to pay full price for something they don’t use.

Godox wanted to stick with all TTL models they can ask a higher price for.

When holiday season prices come around again they should be a killer flash for the price.

Looks like a great new option. Would have gone for these instead of the STD 600 pros. Save a few dollars since I never need TTL.

I bought the original xplor 600 with TTL. I own a light meter, and know how to use it. But when doing location shoots and/or chasing kids around, it’s a nice feature to have. I set my camera in manual to expose for ambient then do a quick test shot in TTL and use the TCM function on the remote to give me a close if not perfect exposure set to manual. I just ordered the 600 Pro for the recycle time and I have a 400 Pro for a lighter light when using outside on less then 12 noon full sun. So imho, TTL is worth it to me. If I’m using mulitable lights and doing ratios then of course you pretty much need a couple minutes to setup the shot with a light meter. But I have best of both worlds when I need it.
