GODOX – 2.4GHz Flash System Overview



With the release of the recent 2.4GHz built-in radio strobes, Godox have been putting together one of the most comprehensive and popular radio flash systems currently available.

What’s attractive about the Godox ecosystem is not only the large range of well priced and innovative lights on offer, but also the complete compatibility throughout the system, from the cheapest remote manual speedlites, to the larger TTL cordless and AC powered studio strobes.

Another major feature is the intercompatibility between Canon, Nikon, Sony, M4/3 and Fuji systems. So all of the speedlites and strobes in the Godox 2.4GHz system now provide Auto Sensing radio slave modes for Canon, Nikon, Sony, M4/3, and Fuji .

This means you can use Canon, Nikon, Sony, M4/3, and Fuji version transmitter units, or master speedlites, with the same set of slave strobes and speedlites, and they will automatically switch to the corresponding slave mode as required. And this includes full TTL functionality where available.

This also means a photographer (or photographers) using Canon, Nikon, Sony, M4/3, and Fuji cameras can effectively share the same set of strobes at the same time.




So Godox have been developing a very versatile and practical radio flash system, now attracting a large user base worldwide.

Its not all perfect though, and still a work in progress in areas. With a system of this scale already having so many components, there are a number of (generally minor) quirks and details needing refinement over time, through firmware updates etc.

Although having the innovative advantage of built-in Lithium-ion batteries, the current Godox master speedlites have been the main weak point in the system for many wedding and event photographers, who would really like to see an on-camera master speedlite with refined features more closely matching the performance of the original Canon and Nikon speedlites.

Off camera TTL performance with strobes like game changing AD600 / XPLOR have been solid and consistent since their first release. And the previous remote manual speedlites and bare bulb flashes have proven themselves to be solid workhorses over the last few years. The Godox radio system has also shown to be generally reliable with good range.

Note – The Godox 2.4GHz radio system is not directly compatible with Canon or Nikon’s radio systems.




Godox now provide a broad range of strobes with 2.4GHz radio built inside, this provides numerous transmitter, master, and slave flash options.

All the current hotshoe flashes function as both radio master, and slave units in the Godox system –






And with the addition of clip on XTR-16/s radio receivers, a number of the popular legacy remote manual strobes can be combined as slave flash units in the 2.4GHz flash system (using the transmitter and master flash units shown above).

And of course your original Canon, Nikon, and eventually Sony, TTL Speedlites can be combined in the system as well by mounting those on Godox X1R TTL receiver units.




In the USA Adorama also sell the Godox System under their Flashpoint branding, providing great support and helping to refine the system.

Adorama also have exclusive rights in the USA to sell the TTL version of the Godox AD600 cordless strobes, sold under the Flashpoint brand as the XPLOR 600 TTL.

The Flashpoint equipment is fully compatible with the original Godox branded gear, and Flashpoint provide up to 2 year full USA warranty.

GODOX FLASH SYSTEMThe XPro, XT32, and XT16, transmitters also provide control for 16 Groups in Manual mode, where the X1T currently provide up to 5 Groups at most.

So you can choose the transmitter units which best suit your needs and budget.




Currently all of the Godox hotshoe flashes with 2.4GHz X radio system built-in, also provide both radio master and slave modes.

So they can all act as a master / transmitter unit on-camera to the rest of the 2.4GHz flash system as well.


There are some differences between the Canon, Nikon, and Sony master units functionality, due to the way their various native TTL systems operate.

For example the Nikon Master interface only provides for 3 TTL or remote manual groups, so Godox have allowed 2 more groups to at least be used in remote manual.

The Canon Master interface provides a GR Group style interface with 5 TTL or remote manual groups, though pre 2012 cameras can still only access 3 groups.

The Sony Master interface currently only provides the 3 TTL or remote manual slave groups. (Which should really be expanded with 2 more remote manual groups).




Unlike the hotshoe mountable flashes above, larger strobes like the TTL enabled AD600B, and AD200 do not provide any radio master mode (as they can not be mounted on the camera hotshoe anyway).

Where this becomes interesting though, is that the AD600B and AD200 etc, provide auto switching TTL radio slave modes for Canon, Nikon, Sony, M4/3, and Fuji.

So the strobe automatically detects the signal and settings provided from an X1T-C, X1T-N, X1T-S, or X1T-O transmitter, mounted on a respective Canon, Nikon, or Sony camera’s hotshoe (as soon as you release the cameras shutter).

This means a photographer, or photographers, using Canon, Nikon, Sony, M4/3, and Fuji cameras can effectively share the same set of strobes at the same time.

And Godox 2.4GHz TTL enabled master hotshoe flashes can be used in the same way as the transmitter unit on camera as well.




And all of the Godox TTL speedlites / hotshoe flashes now provide the same auto switching TTL radio slave modes for Canon, Nikon, Sony, M4/3, and Fuji.



NOTE – X1T transmitters units may not currently provide TTL with alternate version X1R receivers (with TTL speedlite mounted on receiver hotshoe).




Particularity for people starting out in off camera lighting, the scalability of Godox system offers a very practical option to get started with.

This is because the Godox remote manual flashes are compatible (in remote manual, and HSS use) with Godox’s more advanced TTL gear, as well as their broad range of larger TTL and manual strobes.

This means you can start with some inexpensive remote manual speedlites like the Godox TT600, (which are basically the Godox equivalent of the popular YongNuo YN560 IV), and easily expand your kit with numerous other compatible Godox flash options later.

With YongNuo their remote manual and TTL systems have limited intercompatibility. And a lot of people get caught out with that after a short time when they want to start experimenting with HSS and TTL, and try to expand their kit.

With a HSS enabled Godox transmitter like the XT32, the TT600 speedlites (and many of the other Godox remote manual strobes) already include a HSS mode as well. (Where HSS is only available with the TTL gear from YongNuo).

(Note – Remote flash head zoom is currently limited in the Godox system though, compared to YongNuo’s functions).





A quick history for people unfamiliar with the Godox system. A few years ago Godox released their first 433MHz frequency FT-16 remote manual radio system, to be used with the various remote manual strobes mentioned above.

Godox knew this system would need to evolve quite a bit in a relatively short time. And fortunately for many previous customers Godox designed the radio receivers as small external clip on units, which could then be easily upgraded to a new radio system later on.

So Godox now provide 2.4GHz XT16 versions of the original 433MHz FT-16 transmitter and receivers.

And its these XTR16 and XTR16s receivers which link the legacy remote manual flashes to the new Godox 2.4GHz X radio flash system as detailed above.

(The original 433MHz FT-16 transmitter and receivers are still available, though you can imagine they will probably be phased out eventually as demand diminishes).




As well as remote manual power control, a number of the legacy Godox strobes like the popular AD360 also provide a HSS mode.

The FT-16 transmitter being a universal single firing pin unit though, cannot provide the early fire signal needed for HSS to function.

So with the 433MHz radio system a second Cells II transmitter was also needed to be mounted on the camera, while the FT-16 transmitter could be held in hand just for remote power control with the strobes.

With the current 2.4GHz system, the XT32 (and now also Xpro) transmitters, basically combine the XT-16 and Cells II into one more convenient transmitter unit.

TT600 – Are simple remote manual speedlites, with universal single firing pin.

Though as well as providing remote manual radio master and slave modes, the TT600 can also provide a HSS mode when used as a radio slave flash to a Godox HSS enabled transmitter or master flash unit.

(No HSS when mounted on camera though, as the TT600 are single firing pin).

The TT600 work as remote manual and HSS enabled radio slaves to any of the Canon, Nikon or Sony version Godox transmitter or master flash units. As well as remote manual radio slaves to the single firing pin transmitter or master flash units (no HSS with those).

Remote zoom control is not currently available from the TT600’s master interface. And as a radio slave flash there is no remote zoom control available either.

Basic S1 and S2 Optic slave modes are also provided.

TT600S – Are a separate version of the TT600 available with the Sony Multi Interface style hotshoe foot. Though as far as we are aware still function the same as the single firing pin TT600.


V850II – Provide the same functions as the TT600, though they are powered by a very convenient Lithium-Ion battery capable of 650 full power pops, and 1.5 second recycle time.

The V850II cost more than the TT600, though the price includes the Lithium-ion battery and charger.

TT350 are Godox’s first compact TTL, HSS, and Remote Manual speedlite, primarily aimed at smaller mirrorless cameras.

The compact TT350 are powered by just 2 AA batteries and provide around 210 full power pops, with 1.5 second recycle time.

Though power output is around 2 stops less than the full sized speedlites listed below.

The TT350 provide full TTL and Remote Manual radio master and slave modes. And auto sensing TTL radio slave modes for Godox’s Canon, Nikon, Sony, M4/3, & Fuji, TTL master units.

QT600/II-M are Remote Manual, AC powered studio lights, with IGBT power control providing short flash durations suitable for freezing motion.

The QT600IIM don not provide TTL, though they do proivde HSS (High Speed Sync) when used with a suitably enabled transmitter or master flash.

A dual mode can prioritize between short flash durations for freezing motion, or higher color consistency across the power range.

In radio slave mode the QT600IIM can function with the various manual power scales available through the XT-32 transmitter. So they can be used alongside legacy Godox studio strobes which use a number of different power scales.

The QT600IIM also provide the full 16 radio slave groups provided by the XT-32 and XT-16 transmitter units.

Basic S1 and S2 Optic slave modes are also provided.

    I see you spec the TT685/V860II for Nikon as having 5 groups with 2 manual. This is true for the X1 transmitter, but not the V860II (I do not have a TT685), but would assume they use the same interface with the only difference being the lithium battery. I believe I have the latest firmware, but only have 3 groups plus master.

    I recently bought a pair of the V860II and like them except I can’t manually control the zoom setting unless I attach my Yongnuo triggers (which kind of defeats the purpose of switching to all-in-one units). Am I missing something or do you know if there may be a firmware update for this?

      Adam, that is correct. Godox does not currently offer the ability to remote zoom the flash units. I do not know if they are planning on that or not.

    Also … has anyone used an XT32 with a Fuji X100S camera? With mine the XT foot is too long for the pin to align correctly and wont trigger any flashes – but an FT16 is fine

      Tested Godox XT32C and XT-16 on Fuji X100T and X-T1.
      Both triggers worked on X-T1.
      Only XT-16 worked on X100T.
      Strange considering the center pin is in the exact same spot on both triggers and the foot of the XT32C sticks out the same amount on both cameras.

    I just got the Godox X1C kit. My 580 exii won’t fire with it. The test button does activate the flash and turning the wheel changes the settings on the flash. I’ve updated the firmware to the most current version. Any help would be appreciated!

      Nic, I have purchased the StrobePro rebranded units in Canada. I use their XTC (transmitter) and XRC (receiver) for my 5DMKII/7D and the 580EXII and it works great. Did you purchase the Godox X1T and the X1R, if not your missing the X1R.

    UPDATE – Godox have uploaded new V1.4 firmware for the V860II-C, V860II-N, and V860II-S, which appear to add the alternate Canon, Nikon, and Sony radio slave modes to each flash.

      This was just what i was after, as i use both canon & sony cameras, so i was so excited to down load the new firmware & try it out, every thing looked good until i tried to change settings, & found i was getting inconsistent results. So after reading your post i decided to do some tests & found … the hot shoe on my camera was loose, & that the auto switching on the v860’s dose work 🙂

    Can I trigger the XTR16 with an X1C? Of course manual mode is OK.
    The plan is to have a TT685, a DE300, an X1C and an XTR16.
    I could trigger the TT685 with the X1C in TTL, but if I need to use the DE300, I could trigger both the TT685 and the DE300 (connected with an XTR16) in manual mode.
    Is this correct?

    It would be interesting to see how the AD200 fits into the scheme of things here. I would have wished a Speedlite for factor strobe with modelling light. But, I have a feeling AD200 might not have it. Still, it seems very interesting to have a dedicated off-camera flash in this ecosystem. Way to go, Godox!

    I am interested to know the best workaround for getting supersync / hypbersync on the AD600 TTL and AD360ii. I’m currently using the XT1-N trigger and don’t want to have to buy a full set of pocketwizard triggers. I understand you can use a supersync / hypersync enabled trigger and then piggy back the XT1 ontop. Is that correct and which is the best trigger to use for this (ideally I’d like the timing adjustment to the hypersync that Phottix and Pocketwizard give you). Any thoughts

      Hi Nick,

      The X1T transmitters have their own timing adjustment, as do the XT32 (only available for Canon so far).

      So all you need is an X1R receiver attached to the AD600 via PC sync cord.

      For the AD360II you could use an XTR-16 clip on receiver (or an X1R receiver attached via PC sync cord).

    So if i understood correctly the TT600 Manual version works also with the X1T-S Sony trigger ?

    I’m looking to combine multiple speedlights on a flash bracket but it looks that most brackets are made for universal hot shoe strobes and not for Multi interface shoe flashes. so the only difference between the tt600 and the tt600s is the shoe. ( for hss) on camera use ? I know the sony camera’s with mi interface can fire virtually any flash in manual mode, but HSS i’m not so sure about. So is on camera HSS the only reason for godox making the tt600S ?.

    Hello, is it only me who sometimes has the following problem:


    1.) I have everything set up with the several flashes in several groups (maybe even using all 3 (TTL) or 5 groups).

    2.) Then I want to throw in just e.g. another V860II as a little effect light.
    I would like to quickly set it to manual 1/32 (and change to 1/16 or 1/64 e.g. if to dim/hot).

    But this doesn’t work. 🙁 If I want to include it into the wireless system, I have to set it to slave and give it a group. Then it’s power is controlled by the commander.

    Wouldn’t this just an easy firmware thing: Set a channel and manual mode, but WITHOUT a group??

    What do you think?

      Hi Sal,

      YongNuo have a mixed mode setting for the YN-622 to allow for this. I hadn’t even really come across this mentioned with the Godox system before.

      If the transmitter was much easier to set the power level for each group I don’t know how much this would be needed.

      It would be a firmware update to all the slave units though, not really the transmitter.

        Because all groups may be set/used/optimized already! (Key, Fill, Hair, Backlight, Floor e.g.)

        And then just a little speedlite in manual mode as effect light laying in a lamp e.g…. It wold be so easy: Just turn it on, set it e.g. to 1/16, andjust once and you are ready.

        Let’s assume you have two flashlites in one group.
        Temporarily you want to set one quickly to Manual 1/64. Now this is only possible to give it a dedicated (free!) group and adjust power on transmitter. But if you want to go back to old scenario you have to do this again. Would be much easier, if at the flashlite you could just go e.g. from GROUP A -> NO GROUP (but still firing in manual mode if on the correct channel).

        I wished I had this simple featuer so many times now… 🙁

          Yes I see your point. We did want something of a basic fire mode to stop the strobe going into HSS mode automatically as well (though that could simply be a function which allows you to turn HSS off completely on the strobe).

          I thought the XTR-16/s may be a solution, but setting those to a group not available on the transmitter still has the flash updating to the power level of the last group adjusted on the transmitter. So that was no help.

          Your only solution at the moment would be to use the XTR-16/s receiver, and the XT-32 or XT-16 transmitters which provide 16 groups.

          Or you can stack 2 or more X1 transmitters on top of each other to provide 10+ groups. Just set the second transmitter and second set of slave flashes to a different channel. 🙂 No external receivers required then.

          If Godox agree to add a mixed mode like function, as mentioned previously it would have to be added to every flash model individually through firmware updates.

    I think about the new AD200 and my Fujifilm X-Pro2 and Nikon D4s cameras. If not compatible with both camerasI I will wait for the competitors doing it because the AD200 is an excellent formula and I am sure the competitors will follow this very good formula.

      There is no AC adapter currently available, and I haven’t heard of any plans to produce one.

      With 500 shots from one battery I don’t think there would be much demand for an AC adapter.

      An continuous LED modelling light could suck a lot of power, though it sounds like Godox will build the LED into an S-type bracket with its own battery.

    It’s a nice system other than the terribly-inconsistent exposure when using TTL (at least with the V860iis). If a firmware update doesn’t happen soon I’ll be unloading my Godox gear.

      I get inconsistent exposure with my Panasonic TTL flashes on Panasonic bodies. Colleagues report the same with Canon and Nikon. I suspect TTL is just a lousy technology. I got much better results from my various Metz flashes’ “auto” mode.

    Really great update to the Overview!

    Long time user of the manual AD360, AD180 and V850’s and just love these lights. Just recently got the 2.4 GHz receivers and the X-1, but find it a a bit confusing at times and have been patiently waiting for the XT-32N to come out. Any updates on the N version availability?

    Also am interested in the AD200 and will pick one of these up, but am waiting to hear more about the M4/3 and Olympus compatibility. Want to pair this with a V850 for a great 2 flash light weight travel kit. Any indication that the current AD200’s, that work with Canon, Nikon and Sony, will work with the M4/3 bodies via the way of a firmware upgrade to the AD200? So just a Oly/Panasonic transmitter would be needed hopefully.

      Thanks, I just checked this and I’m getting 1.9 – 2.0 seconds with the V860II.

      The original V860 is faster at 1.5 – 1.6 seconds.

      So the V860II has slowed a little, though 2.5 seconds sounds a bit excessive.

    I had hoped to trigger my Nikon SB-800 remotely using the X1n. Although this sort of works, it is not very useful. With the SB-800 (set to TTL) mounted on an X1RN, I’m getting a correct exposure. There is no way to dial in FEC from the X1TN however. Setting the group to Manual on the X1TN has no effect at all, i.e., the SB-800 always gives a full TTL exposure. Setting the SB-800 to Manual causes the flash to fire at the wrong moment (during pre-flash apparently). This was tested with the latest X1n firmware (X1RN v16 and X1TN v19). Hope this helps someone.

      About a year ago, I bought a pair of AD360iiN units, a X1T-N transmitter and several X1R-N units to use with my SB910, SB700 and SB600 flashes. The AD360iiN units work very well, but I got inconsistent results with the Nikon flashes on the X1R-N receivers. I found that if I wiggled the flash around on the X1R-N a bit and turned things of and on a few times, I could get things to work, until I move the flash unit. Eventually, I tried putting a TTL cable between the flash unit and the X1R-N unit, and things worked immediately and consistently. The TTL cable I used is a Pixel FC-312, which is tightly coiled and about 12 inches long. I got a similar TTL cable for each of my X1R-N units and am very happy with how the X1R-N units work now. I think that the lock wheel on TTL cable end attached to the X1R-N gives a much more solid connection. Well, it works with my SB600, which is a close as I can get to your SB800.

        Thanks for the tip Degeost. I have noticed the wiggling too, however, even after making sure the flash is firmly seated and the display on the flash confirms proper communication, it still works in TTL mode only. I have seen a small number of reports from other users reporting the SB-800 does not work even though the SB-600 does. I’ve meanwhile returned the X1R-N figuring most of the time when I’ll be using the SB-800 of-camera I’ll be using manual mode anyway.

    Thank you so much for all the work that went into this update! As a tech writer, I can really appreciate this. However, having been a tech writer, I can’t help mentioning two very minor small edits.

    1). The XT16 section’s “overview” link isn’t actually linked to the XT16 overview. 🙂

    2). If the older studio strobes that work with the X1 system are those that can use an FTR-16 receiver, then Godox’s FT-16/FT-16s user manual lists those as the: “Quicker, Quicker D, QT, QS, Gemini GT, Gemini GS, DE, and DP series studio flashes.”

    This isn’t quite the same list that the Godox website has for all its current studio strobes, under your “numerous” link. But I can appreciate why you wouldn’t want to spelunk through all the specs of all of them to find out. 🙂

      Thanks for that, I fixed the XT16 link, and added a small note to the studio strobes.

      I’m not really sure how many of the older AC strobes which use the USB receiver system are even completely compatible with the XT16 receiver. I think a few people have mentioned quirks generally depending on what power scale the strobes use.

      I would assume Godox will slowly transfer the strobes which are still relevant to the built-in 2.4GHz system, and slowly phase the old ones out.

    Can I purchase another X1T-C or XT32 and use both triggers on two camera to control AD600B? I only shoot manual. What I mean is I have two shooters and we would like to use both cameras to trigger AD600B alternatively.

      Hi Andy,

      Yes you can have two shooters with X1T-C, XT32, or a combination of both transmitters.

      The only thing is the last persons power level setting will remain on the strobes unless you press the test fire button on your transmitter, or make changes to the power level on your transmitter.

      In TTL mode the strobe automatically reacts to the current transmitter / camera as its being fired.

      I’m not exactly sure how this will play out yet, though I think they are aiming for around 4th quarter availability for the X2 transmitter. They are trying to push it along now, though its still got some way to go at this stage.

    Great write up, incredibly comprehensive.
    I went down the Yongnuo path a number of years back with my Nikon gear.
    Great flashes but waited and waited for a OC TTL master that would allow me to control othe TTL and/or manual speedlites. It never came.
    Have now sold all of my Yongnuo gear, (3 x 568’s, 4 x 560III’s, 622TX and 560TX) all gone.
    Purchased 3 x TT685N’s and love them. Agreed that there are some quirks that probably need sorting out but it’s so nice being able to put a Flash or Trigger on camera and use the flash in TTL and any combination of TTL or Manual with the other two OCF’s.
    Am looking at either the TT600’s or the 360II’s to add to the system later on.
    Godox have an excellent scalable system that allows photogs to mix and match the lighting very easily compared to the old flash, receiver and camera, trigger setup of the past which took forever to setup or change.
    the Godox system is one item on or off camera and your shooting immediately with full control.

      Hi Dino,

      The XTR16 receivers are designed specifically for the flash, and also powered by the flash. So a converter alone is not going to work unfortunately.

      Godox should make a basic receiver unit for the system, though at this stage you can use an X1 receiver attached to the strobe via sync cord. I would assume that’s why they haven’t seen making a new basic receiver as a priority at this stage.

    I have a question that might already have been asked but all the same…. I want to buy the Orlit 610 and the AD200 (for portability and second light instead of 2 Orlits). Will I be able to fire and control both lights by placing the triggers on each other on my camera whenever I need to use both lights together?

      Hi Gbenga,

      Unless you need the Canon RT with the Orlit, your best option would be to go with the XPLOR 600 and eVOLV / AD200, because they work seamlessly together with full function from the same transmitter unit.

      You could possibly stack the various Godox transmitters and the TR-611 transmitter, though at best you would only get remote power control and HSS, not TTL with both lights.

      And personally I think the Canon ST-E3-RT are a much better transmitter than the TR-611, and the ST-E3-RT are not going to operate at all stacked on top of a Godox X1 transmitter.

      Jinbei are going to make a compact cordless flash for their system as well, though I don’t really know what exactly that’s going to be like or when it may actually be available. The Mars-3 / Flashpoint ROVER (Profoto B2 style flash) will be available next.

    Has anyone bought more than one AD600BM and has any experience of the H1200B? I’ve just bought my second AD600BM and after running some tests, have found some strange results.
    I bought my first AD600BM a year ago and, other than performing a few tests with it, haven’t used it since. This is nothing to do with whether or not I liked it, it’s just that I’ve not been in a situation where I’ve needed it. So it’s essentially brand new and been sitting in its packaging for a year. Knowing I was going to need more power, I bought a second AD600BM along with the H1200B remote head and the 1200W bulb.
    I set the heads up in the same spot and measured the light at about 8ft away using a Sekonic light meter. I also put the H1200B in the same position and it was powered by the 2 previously mentioned AD600BMs. Here are the results. All results were taken with the flash or flashes set to full power.
    AD600BM (bought in 2017): f16
    AD600BM (bought in 2016): f14
    H1200(bought in 2017): f13

    So there is a 3rd of a stop difference in power capability between my two AD600BMs, and the H1200B is less powerful that a single AD600BM. I’ve only had the H1200B a couple of days and am now wondering whether or not it actually does what it’s advertised to do and if I should send it all back. £250 for the H1200 and bulb is a lot of money, and I can’t see why I would now ever choose to use it.
    Has anyone else come across any of these issues?

      Did you try exchanging the bulbs of the two 600 flashes to if it is the bulb or the flashes.

      To the 1200, it should be much higher and maybe switch from measuring flash to ambient measuring on the Sekonic. In a way you give lightmeter the change to see the two flashes and combine them.

      Hi Simon,

      Godox did improve the AD600 flash bulb to provide around 0.2 stops more light. So as mmmfotografie mentions above, you might want to try swapping the bulbs over to confirm if that’s what is making the difference.

      I’m not sure why you’re getting such a low result with the AD-H1200B, though mmmfotografie may have an explanation there. I would try taking a picture (at a reasonably long shutter speed) and compare that with the single head to see if the meter results are working.

      I get 0.5 stops more light with the AD-H1200B, than a single AD600B with not remote head, and the later flash bulb. (0.7 – 0.8 stops more compared to the early 600 flash bulb).

        Thanks for the reply.

        I did notice that the 2017 bulb was slightly different inside to the 2016, and I did try both bulbs in both the 2016 unit and the 2017. I got the same results. The 2017 flash head (not the bulb), produced 1/3 stop more light that the 2016, regardless of the bulb that was plugged into it.

        I’m not sure I understand the ambient light test that’s being suggested. Surely as I’m measuring the flash from the single 1200W bulb there would only be one flash to measure? Are you suggesting the light meter isn’t registering the 1200W bulbs peak output and that it might have a longer flash duration? I had the meter set to 1/200 of a sec so not sure if it continues to look for light throughout that 1/200 of a sec.

        I sent the h1200 back and got a refund the day after making my originally post. I was very disappointed.

          That’s interesting about the later AD600BM strobe output then. Maybe Godox have managed to increased the power of the strobes a little more now.

          Regarding the AD-H1200B head, I think I have a much more obvious explanation now though (and sorry I should have known this earlier because it actually happened to me as well), your 1200Ws bulb was likely just faulty and only firing on one element. As mentioned I had that issue originally and had to exchange the bulb.

        The X1T-C was made actually made compatible with the 5D Mark IV from V18 firmware onward. So the AF light should work if you have recent firmware.

        Having said that I personally still can’t get the AF light to work with the 5D IV, though I’ve been the only one I know of so far that hasn’t resolved this (I think it must be a camera setting somewhere).

      What I have noticed using the Canon 600EX-RT on the 5D IV, is that the only way I can get the bottom of the 3 AF lights to come on is to use a Sigma lens on the camera (or my Canon 50mm F1.8).

      And when the 600EX-RT bottom AF light is working, then other transmitters like the YN-622C AF lights will then work as well. Though still not the X1T-C unfortunately.

      I have updated the camera firmware, and tried all the cameras settings I could, but still no luck.

    Can anyone help me?

    Which trigger and receiver combo will work with my flashes?
    I have 2xTT600 and 1x AD360v1.

    I use fuji cameras. I have tried the XT32 which I could adjust levels on the TT600 but not the AD360v1, however this would not fire from the Fuji.

    My 433mhz trigger won’t fire the 2.4ghz TT600s.

    Can I just attach the FT-16s 433mhz receivers to the TT600s? will this work?
    Can anyone help? I have to keep returning parts to amazon!

      Hi nez,

      Yes attaching FTR-16s receivers to the TT600’s should work.

      Otherwise you should also be able to use a 2.4GHz XT-16 transmitter on your camera, and attach an XTR-16 receiver to the AD360. (TT600 have the 2.4GHz receiver built in).

      Were you using an XTR-16 receiver attached to the AD360 when using the XT32 transmitter?

        Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Yes I tried attaching a new XTR-16 to the AD360. It would flash but I couldn’t control the power levels remotely.

        I have a pair of FTR-16s turning up today which hopefully will allow me to trigger and control everything from my old FT-16 trigger at 433mhz.

        I wish godox would hurry up and sort out HSS for Fuji!

      Have you tried covering all pins of the XT32 but the center? It’s not a convenient workaround, but doesn’t cost you money (except if you doesn’t have the XTR-16 for the AD360). The XT32 has the nicest interface of the Godox triggers (IMHO), so I would give it a try.

        Hey thanks for getting back to me. I thought about blocking off the pins, but as I couldn’t control the power levels of the AD360 even using a new FTR-16 I decided to send it back. It’s a shame as you say the XT32 is very nice

    Im a recent Godox/Flashpoint convert. My old system was the Canon/Yongnuo 600EXRT with commander units on the camera. With the old system, I could have some flashes in TTL while others were on manual power. Can I do this with my X1 commander?

      Hi Galen,

      If your camera is 2012 onward then you can set the X1T-C transmitter to GR Group mode which allows mixing TTL and Remote Manual groups.

      To enter Group mode hold the mode button down for 2 seconds (While the display is in TTL or Manual mode, not Multi).

    I have encountered E5 error on my Flashpoint Zoom TTL for Sony (TT685) , new. I just used it as a remote, happened after a few shots.
    Not the first time I have issues, and I am worried about reliability on the job.

    – 1 Godox returned because the orange back panel LCD light did not turn off when in remote. Hard to use in dark environments. Godox did not really help with customer service, but could still return with Amazon.

    – I bought 2 Neewer NW880s that came with soft boxes. Same as Godox TT685s. One of the 2 flashes would turn itself off and on if I would hold it tight sideways (without accidentally moving the battery door). Neewer offer US warranty and they offered a free replacement and a return label after asking for a video of the issue. Waiting for the replacement.

    – Bought at Adorama a Flashpoint Zoom TTL (TT685s) on day deal sale for $89 just before Passover. Today I was using it as a remote in a small apartment for a quick portrait with a TT600 and TT350 as controller. The Flashpoint stopped working with persistent E5 message. Tried different batteries, reset, remove reinsert batteries etc. I still get 5. Someone on a youtube video had the same E5 error after using white Eneloop 2500 batteries. Issues with Eneloop, the gold standard of batteries? I used the TT350 more and no issues. TT685 with different branding seem to have quality control issues.

      Hi Stefano,

      Sounds like you’ve had a bad run there with the TT685S’s.

      I don’t think its anything to do with different branding, likely just the batches the dealers have received at different times. If there is a common issue with them though Godox should hopefully rectify it.

      Adorama at least should sort you out with an exchange quickly though.

      I don’t know if there have been similar issues with the V860II-S. Maybe they are worth a try for now instead.

        Thanks for the reply. Any issues with Eneloop AA batteries? someone mentioned somewhere.

        Actually I am quite happy with the 4 TT350S I purchased. No issues, although their display is a less clear at a glance when used it as a master.

        They work quite well with flash disc diffuser (Chinese knockoffs) that are more efficient than flashbenders.

        Just TT350 recycle time may get slow at full power.

          Yes, the TT350 are a bit low on power for off camera use with modifiers. The larger flash will obviously run at 1/4 of the power level, so recycle is much faster at the same power output.

          I’m not aware if there is any connection or issue with Eneloop AA batteries and the E5 error. Eneloops are by far the most popular batteries used, and even Godox recommend them, at least the standard ones.

          Maybe there could be something to that, though its the first time I have heard any mention of that suggested, and I don’t know what the reasoning may be behind that suggerstion.

            Adorama replaced instantly the defective unit with a replacement when I walked in to customer service. That is really better support than Godox and less paperwork than with Neewer. Will consider buying Flashpoint branded flashes in the future, even if there is the close to 10% NY state tax on top of the base price (but they have flash sales and sometimes Flashpoint flashes can be had at 20 / 30 % off the usual price.

            I have no idea what error E5 is. It would be good to find out.

    New firmware-update for the TT685 available as of today (2017-04-18).

    According to changelogs, the TT685 is now joining the ranks of intercompatible lights with auto-switching TTL-modes for Canon, Nikon, Sony.

      it seems Godox have remove the update for the TT685 again – at least I can’t find it anymore on their website – last update there for the TT685 C is V3.0 from Mai 18th, 2016 again.

      To make it even more strange – on their Chinese website the update is still available…

      I don’t know for sure yet, though its highly likely there will be zoom control available via group.

      The X1 do have a pretty limited global zoom control available in the custom functions.

    Probably a question which has already been answered, but it’s not altogether clear to me…
    I’m shooting Nikon using the X1-N T and the X-R N radios. I’m firing a combination of Nikon SB 900/910 and 2 of the Godox TT 685s. Since a while back I changed from Canon, I have 2 of their Speedlites (580EXII + 430EX) lying around not earning their keep! Is it possible to add these 2 to my setup by buying the Canon X1-R C?
    In other words can I control and fire these Canon flash with their Godox trigger from a Godox X1-T N?
    I believe perhaps something was mentioned about Firmware updates or in the pipeline but if you could answer definitively it would be most appreciated

      Hi Tim,

      I just tried with the current firmware (X1T-N / V19 and X1R-C / V17) and TTL and Remote Manual appear to work, though HSS does not (the flash won’t fire at all).

      That’s using a Canon 600EX-RT flash, though your 580EXII is likely to have similar results.

      I think mark one flashes like your 430EX have very limited function even with a Canon X1 transmitter and receiver. So I wouldn’t expect much with the 430EX in any case.

      This is all subject to change with firmware though (no telling what may happen once Godox start adding Fuji and M4/3 receiver modes etc as well). That’s why I’m reluctant to say there are definitive answers, when these receivers are generally the last priority (in regard to mixing systems).

      If you’re in the US the V860II are only $129 at Adorama at the moment. Personally I would spend the money on a flash rather than the receivers. And if you sold the Canon flashes you would likely not have to spend much at all, and come out with a much more convenient system.

        What you say makes a lot of sense. It’s true that, whilst the receivers are a godsend for a ‘halfway house’/in between systems setup, they are the weak link.
        It’s funny that I’d never considered selling the flash, would anybody want them? Not sure I’d buy secondhand speedlight flash! But you are right it would be an answer for a more reliable system.
        129 dollars sounds a steal but I live in Europe, sadly for this deal! Probably find a good deal if I look hard enough!

          Ok thanks, you would be surprised, genuine Canon flashes still fetch good prices on Ebay etc. They are still hard to beat for on-camera flashes.

          The Godox flashes are not so cheap in Europe though either, so I would imagine you would be looking at the TT685 again to make less of a changeover cost.

    I recently bought an AD360 godox flash to use with my fuji x-t2, it came with the ft-16 transmitter and the ftr-16 and they work perfectly with x-t2 only in manual. I want to buy the AD600BM flash but I do not know which trigger to buy. I saw several videos on youtube and some say that the canon version works and others say that the version for nikon is better, I know my trigger does not work because it works at 433mhz and the ad600bm already has the 2.4GHz integrated receiver.I know tha exist a XTR16 that works in 2.4Ghz but is this my only option? it works with the x-t2 ? I can control the power of the AD600BM with the XTR16?

    Someone with experience in this flashes with the fuji system and especially the x-t2 tryed this with the cactus v6II ? i don´t need TTL but HSS is very welcome.

      Hi Cristiano,

      Some people have reported the XT32 transmitter for Canon or Nikon working without having to tape over any TTL contacts. The guaranteed option would be the single firing pin XT-16 transmitter.

      Once the TT350F master flash becomes available soon you can use that as the transmitter unit which should allow for HSS as well.

    I’ve noticed on my 5DIV that using the X1C (ie turning it on) slows down the focus aquisition speed of the camera in low light. Try yourself in low light by focusing on random objects, it’s definately slower (say 40%) than when the X1C is turned off.

    Anyone else able to confirm similar issues? Or might be a seetings issue somewhere

        No the focus assist light makes no difference. I mean if you use the camera in low light with or without the X1C mounted (or switched on/off) the camera will slow down in how quickly it can focus. However, I tried this also with my Canon ST-E3 and to my surprise the same thing happens. Sooo , for some reason the 5DMIV takes longer to focus when you have something on the hotshoe.

    I have bought the Godox AD200 for use in conjuction with a set of Yongnuo YN560iii, I wanted to trigger the AD200 with an RF603 or RF605 (via a 2.5mm sync cord) but they do not seem to work, any ideas for why ?

      There is no 2.5mm sync cord – neither on the AD200 nor on the RF 603 / 605 🙂
      On the AD200 it’s a 3.5mm connector, and on the RF 603 / 605 it’s a PC connector.

      In case it was just a typo and you’re using a PC -> 3.5mm cable, ignore this post, I have no idea why it’s not working, sorry :/

      But if you’re using a 2.5mm -> 3.5mm cable – and it sounds to me like you might – then that’s the issue – the 2.5mm connector on the 603 / 605 is for camera shutter release, not flash sync. Use the PC connector instead.

    I have a few of the Godox/Flashpoint flash units. I thought they all auto switched to HSS when the shutter speed is changed on camera. But is it only the R2 transmitters that do it? I had the Zoom R2 on camera as master and it wasn’t doing it.

      Hi Ken,

      The Godox and Flashpoint speedlites are all currently the same (just re-branded).

      The Zoom R2 / TT600 will not provide HSS as the master / transmitter on the camera though, you need one of the dedicated master flashes or transmitters on the camera to do that (dedicated to your camera brand).

      The Zoom R2 / TT600 can provide HSS as an off camera slave flash though (to a dedicated master flash / transmitter on the camera).

    E-TTL still doesnt work when X1T and 5D mark IV are used.

    Its been 10 months since 5D mark IV was released and that issue is still there. Only firmware released (december 2016) was to adress AF Assist lamp. I have read that people have their AF assist lamp working now, but I dont. 3 different Godox X1T triggers later, all latest firmwares, and still it does not work. On my older camera it works, buuuuut, in most cases same AF assist slows my AF and makes it miss focus due to less then usable AF pattern. When I say less then usable, I actually mean its usable only with 100mm lens, which by the way when subjects are too far away to even use AF Assist.

    I love their flashes, but their triggers are a mess. Compared to other cheap solution theirs leave a lot to be desired in terms of fast changing values without pressing a lot of buttons to do so. If You want to use flash in Second Curtain mode, You either go into camera menues (doesnt do anything) or use custom functions ([sarcasm]yes, we all have memorized their custom functions codes and can switch functions like no one is waiting for us to shoot and playing with our di… erm … camera settings[/sarcasm]).

    Having to press a button devoid of tactile response to then scroll a wheel that is as precise as a tugboat and 1 click doesnt corespond to 1 value change.

    I might be little ticked off at Godox for these issues, more over, for their not giving any Fwords about it and fixing issues for users of their products.

      Hi Miha,

      I’m not sure what you mean by TTL doesn’t work with the 5D IV and X1T? The current V19 firmware appears to work fine in TTL with my 5D IV, and I haven’t heard anyone else complain about this.

      V20 was also posted in this comment here in the X1 comments, and that appears to work fine with the 5D IV and TTL as well.

      Regarding the AF assist light, I can’t get that to work with the 5D IV either, though we are very much in the minority there, as its working for most 5D IV owners. I’m still wondering if its not a camera setting affecting this somewhere.

      Regarding the X1 transmitter, yes the interface is lousy, that’s been well discussed and documented. Godox and Flashpoint are working on new X2 versions at the moment, and I’ve had a lot of input into the Flashpoint version (if that eventuates). At this stage I’m personally disappointed in the way Godox have approached all this, though that’s life and we just have to try and do the best we can.

        I mean that when I shoot with using TTL on X1T-C and everything set on EV 0, TTL should light scene properly. In my case with firmware v19 flash would always report F8.0 regardless of what f-stop was set on camera. With new beta firmware v20, flash now see f-stop set on camera and instead of firing full power, there is less power used. Still, image is overexposed, if i had to guess, 3-4 stops. Wish i had a way to post images here, so that i can demonstrate what i mean.

        When i use flash on my mk4 or off camera flash using YN622 in TTL, everything is properly exposed. I have tested this using 5 different flashes, one of which is Godox AD360II. Using X1T-C … doesnt work, using YN622 works perfectly.

        Horrible interface aside. Its only thing that prevents me from ordering AD200.

          That’s interesting, I was using the AD200 and AD600B and thought they worked fine, looking more closely the AD200 are about a stop more than the AD600B.

          I tried the V860II-C though, and that is about 2.5 stops over exposed.

          The AD600B, and the AD360II-C appear to work fine with correct exposure though, so I’m not sure why your AD360II is not working? (Thats fine with V19 and V20).

          I can see a clear issue when using the V860II-C though.
