GODOX – V860II-S – Sony TTL Radio Speedlite – Now Available



Godox have released the full featured TTL and HSS enabled Ving V860II-S speedlite for Sony Cameras, with Godox 2.4GHz X series radio transceivers built inside.

The V860II-S provide both Radio Master and Slave modes, as well as Sony Optic Wireless Master and Slave modes.




The V860II-S have basically all the same functions as the recent TT685S speedlite.

Though the V860II-S are powered by an impressive Lithium-ion battery, capable of providing up to 650 full power flashes, and 1.5 second full power recycle times.

Unlike the TT685S though, the V860II-S do not provide any external HV battery pack port.




The V860II-S provide both Radio, and Optic Wireless, Master and Slave modes.

The Radio Master interface features 3 remote Groups ( A / B / C ), which can be a mixture of TTL or Remote Manual Groups.

Optic Wireless Master Mode uses the traditional Sony 2 remote Group System.

A large dot matrix LCD display provides easy access to the master interface and functions.

The V860II-S provide Godox 2.4GHz X System Radio Master and Slave modes.

The Radio Master mode can fire and control the complete Godox 2.4GHz Flash System, including cross compatibility with Godox 2.4GHz slave strobes for Canon, Nikon, Sony, M4/3, and Fuji.

An auto sensing Radio Slave mode can also be fired and controlled by Godox 2.4GHz Master flashes and Transmitters for Canon, Nikon, Sony, M4/3, and Fuji.

All with TTL and HSS available across platforms where applicable.

(NOTE – Godox flashes purchased before July 2017 may also require a user installed firmware update to add the Olympus / Panasonic, and Fuji, radio slave modes).


GODOX Master Flash


The V860II-S are also compatible with the recent Godox X1-S TTL transmitter and receivers.

An X1T-S transmitter mounted on the camera hotshoe can control a number of remote V860II-S speedlights (and other Godox flashes) off camera.

While original Sony TTL speedlites can also be included in the system by attaching X1R-S receivers to their feet.




The V860II-S provide a 3.5mm Sync Port, and USB Port for firmware updates.

As well as a 4 pin Communication Port which provides backward compatibility with Godox’s remote manual XTR-16s, / FTR-16s clip-on radio receivers (originally used with the V850 and V860 speedlites).

      The X1R-S receivers won’t be available until later in the year, possibly around October.

    Got mine today, works as advertised 🙂 It is nice that the flash automatically switches to HSS mode, when necessary, used either directly on the camera or when in a radio slave mode triggered by X1T-S (as opposed to my V850 + XTR16s, where you have to remember to set flash to work in HSS mode).

    I would like to know if it is possible to sync the flash with the a6000 without trigger ?

    perhaps with the built flash or the wifi.

      It will trigger in manual S1 or S2 mode but not in TTL mode.

    I got my Sony and Nikons yesterday. If anyone has figured out how to cross brand trigger remotes I’d love to hear your set up. I’m trying to use a 860VIIs on-camera to trigger off-camera V860IIn and so far I have not been able to figure out the configuration.

      They can’t yet, only the AD600 and (I think) the AD360II can cross trigger. It’s expected that Godox will eventually release a firmware update to the V860II and TT865 in the future that will add this feature to those models as well.

    So I got my V860II-s and X1T-s today, I’ve found that High Speed Sync, HSS, only syncs properly with the X1T-s in TTL mode.

    Attempting to sync the flash in manual mode with the X1T-s 2.4GHz transmitter doesn’t sync properly leaving the top of the frame either brighter or darker at any power setting but switching the flash to TTL works fine.

    With the flash attached to the camera’s hot shoe (a6300) HSS works fine in all modes, it’s just when using it off camera in manual mode.

    Hopefully there will be a firmware update soon to fix this because Off camera manual HSS is how I intend to use it mostly and it seems to be it’s only failure 🙁

      I suppose that when using the X1T-S in TTL + HSS mode you can shift the TTL value ?
      It would be like using a semi manual mode of some sort I presume, right ?

    I encountered a number of problems with getting HSS to work in manual mode (especially with the X1T-S). However I subsequently upgraded the firmware and everything has been resolved. Are you on the latest firmware?

      Hi cesar,

      No, if you want to use a PB960 for faster recycle times you would need to get the TT685C flash instead, as they provide the external high voltage battery port to connect the PB960 to.

    Why godox don’t give a connector foot cover/cap along-with the flash for MI hot-shoe? If It it unnecessary then why sony gives a cap along-with external flashes with MI hot-shoe.

    I have question and hoping that someone can help me out here.
    Last night I was shooting an event in the restaurant with Sony A7r III and Godox V860-II s on camera. There was so much lag time between the time I press shutter button and the time the camera+ flash actual capture picture. I missed many moments 🙁

    THe setting: I set camera on M, f=2.8, 1/125. Flash on camera TTL mode.

    I am pretty much familiar with this flash for Canon and I have problem about lag time at all.

    Just wondering what’s going on or just flash designed for Sony has problem?
