GODOX – Witstro – Great Deals From Adorama and Others – UPDATED!

Adorama currently have great deals on their Flashpoint Streaklight versions of the excellent Godox AD180 and AD360 portable bare bulb flash kits.

The kits include the Lithium-Ion battery pack, and remote manual trigger set valued at $69.95 also thrown in.

Flashpoint StreakLight 360 kit – $599.95 (normally $819.90 with trigger set).
Flashpoint StreakLight 180 kit – $499.95 (normally $669.90 with trigger set).

Its been hard to come across good discounts on these units, particularly from retailers you can rely on like Adorama. So these are pretty good prices on the full kits while they last.

The full range of Flashpoint StreakLight Accessories can also be seen here.

FlashPoint Streaklight

Adorama also now have the new 28″ Phottix Multi Boom in stock for $109.95, which are ideal for mounting one or more Witstro (or StreakLight) in the excellent 43″ Westcott Apollo Orb.

So for the money saved on the the StreakLight you can almost pay for an excellent location softbox set up. These are fast to set up, very versatile, and built to last now that the Apollo have full durable fiberglass rods.

(The 16″ Multi Boom’s are still available if you would like to do it a little cheaper from $69.99).

Phottix Multi Boom 18"

Greatfoto in Ebay also have the Godox AD180 kit with PB-960 battery pack on sale for a very reasonable $364 shipped.

And the FT-16 radio triggers sets are available from around $40 0n Ebay.

So there are few good deals there to be had there while they last.

The AD180 and AD360 are great portable lights. And the remote manual radio trigger system works with the excellent Lithium-Ion powered Godox V850 speedlights, and the larger Xenergizer units. Not to mention quite a number of Godox mains powered studio lights.

For people based in Australia, and Europe, T-One.co have also just taken stock of a full range of Godox lights incuding the Witstro. And T-One.co offer a full 2 year warranty on the units they sell.

I am trying to understand why these would cost this much. I mean you can get an einstein and vagabond mini for about the same price and have a lot more options with it.

I would imagine due to the form factor and no competition. There’s nothing on the market in the form of a bare bulb, lithium powered strobe that isn’t much bigger than a speed light and AA battery pack with similar power and spec to a mono light . Add in remote power triggers, fast pulse and decent build quality and you have a unique offering. The stated battery life is outstanding and battery can be used with oem Canon and Nikon speed lights. I think what throws people off is the off brand which is understandable. I suspect that other manufacturers will start competing in the bare bulb /lithium powered light market which will drive prices down.

      Hi Jennfier,

Paul C Buff also sells directly to the public, that’s why those products are very competitively priced.

I think as Jason mentions, its going to take some alternative competition to bring prices down further with the small bare bulb units.

The Godox units themselves will probably not get that much cheaper though. As Godox are going down the route of expensive TTL research and development. You may get a lot more features for similar dollars down the track though.

These units are built pretty well though, cheaper alternatives to come will likely not be as well made.

Don’t forget High Speed Sync with the Cells-IIC trigger.

Is there any difference between the unit that Adorama is sellling and T-mart.com? That price difference is pretty big!

      Flash Havoc 5 years ago

      Hi charles,

No they are all exactly the same units produced by Godox.

The difference is should you be unlucky to have an issue in 6 months time Adorama will rectify any problems very quickly with great service.

With T-mart you will likely be on a list of hundreds of other people trying to get their $5 gadgets replaced because they sent the wrong color etc.

Buying second hand though for example, you would have no recourse a little down the track.

Wow – thanks for posting this! I also found a code for tmart.com – use A6 to get an additional 5% off. At $378 shipped I couldn’t say no to this deal.

  5. Paul 5 years ago

Ok, so I just ordered this from T-mart, and I’m a little nervous. Actually more than a little. But, how could you not for that price? And I used paypal at check out, so I’m covered a little right? Oh man, I hate buying from obscure retailers.

      Hi Paul,

They are not really that obscure, they have 275,000 facebook followers. But like Deal Extreme etc, they have a huge turnover of cheap gadgets etc. So should something go wrong you will have to follow their processes to make returns etc.

I’ve dealt with them a few times and had no issues. The gear was packaged well.

      • Paul 5 years ago

Well, I should’ve known better. It’s been nine days and not one word from Tmart. They have my money, but no shipping or communication. Time to send an email off and see what happens from here.

That doesn’t sound good. I don’t think you’ll have much problem getting your money back, but it looks like the other deals have all ended now.

EachShot may be working on some type of deal again, but I’m not completely sure about that yet.

          • Paul 5 years ago

Update: Sorry to take up space here, but thought I would share: I emailed Tmart and there is no delivery date in the foreseeable future. So, I emailed EachShot and told them my sad flash story. At the end of that email I asked if they would consider selling one for the discounted price ($372). Since the discount had ended I wasn’t too hopeful. They emailed me back and said sure they would give me the discount. Just ordered one for $376. Since I have ordered from them before, I’m feeling a lot better about my purchase and the fact that I didn’t miss such a great deal. Elvis, thank you for keeping us informed! I love your site.

              Hi Paul,

Thanks, that’s no problem, I’m glad it worked out ok. Yes EachShot have been very helpful, there shouldn’t be any dramas there. Thanks again.

Guys EachShot.com also now have the original Godox AD360 kit with PB-960 battery pack available for just $372.23 shipped with FlashHavoc Discount !

Unlike T-mart, EachShot only sell photography gear, and they have been very good with customer service. So this is a killer deal.

It is worth spending a little more to select the faster shipping if possible though.

Wouldn’t you know it, I just got my Cheetahlight CL-360 last month, and paid full price for the combo deal!! However, it would have hurt more if I didn’t like Cheetahstand’s customer service as much as I do. I wonder how they will react to the pricing…..

  7. Merc 5 years ago

WOW! amazing price. Going to order 2 ad360’s. Do you know how long the deal will run for?

    Hi Merc,

No I’m not sure. At this price I wouldn’t leave it too long though. Very tempted to grab a couple more myself.

I just canceled my order with TMart and ordered from EachShot… Can’t wait to get them in!

I only canceled because TMart showed that it would ship within 24 hours when I made my order and then 2 days later still nothing shipped. Now it says that it ships 3-7 days. Would of been nice to have been updated. EachShot doesn’t say how long before it ships out but I’m hopeful! Thanks for the update!

Would the yongnuo yn622c triggers work with this setup? Or would you need these dedicated triggers to remotely change power?

I really like the setup with the yongnuo’s because I’m able to change flash power in the camera menus rather than trying to see it on a small trigger.

Love this site BTW…Thanks in advance!

      Hi Sandro,

Thanks for that. No you can’t control the Witstro or Godox lights through the YN-622C triggers directly.

Though many people use them together, the YN-622C controlling the speedlights, and the FT-16 transmitter stacked on top of the YN-622C on the camera hotshoe, to control the Witstro or V850 etc.

Although the FT-16 transmitter LCD screen is quite small, the actual power level displayed is likely larger than most triggers, because its only showing the one groups power level at a time. So its actually easier to read than I expected.

The YN-622C combination can also be used for HSS with the Witstro etc. If that’s of interest you can see some set up options on that here. Thanks.

Amazing!!! This is exactly what I needed. Thanks!

How is the power of the 360 compared to alien bees B800 or B1600? Also, is Canon TTL going to be added to the godox units in the forseeable future? Im nervous about buying these because of the promise by Yonguo of producing studio strobes in the near future!

    • Author
      Flash Havoc 5 years ago

      Hi Charles,

I don’t have the Alien Bees, though from others feedback the B800 is similar in power, which makes sense as they are 300WS flashes as well. So that’s half the B1600, or one stop less light.

TTL will not be added to the current units, but Godox are working on new TTL versions. They would likely be aiming for a Photokina announcement, and I’m guessing possibly available around the end of the year.

Yes the YongNuo studio strobes (hopefully portable) are also very intriguing. Mainly because you could use a safe and reliable Canon 600EX-RT on camera as the transmitter.

Godox are coming alone though, the quality is better than YongNuo, and things like the Lithium-Ion powered speedlights may actually be more desirable on camera than the Canon flash.

The TTL AD180 on camera will have more power than a regular speedlite and recycle much faster, and not overheat anywhere near as fast. So a lot of people may prefer this to a regular speedlite on camera. The difference is you always need the external battery pack attached.

      • Charles Farrah 5 years ago

I already have a b1600 n a vagabond mini, so size and power wise they’re be about the same, but the alien bee doesn’t have HSS! That’s what I love about the 360.

        • Author
          Flash Havoc 5 years ago

You mentioned YongNuo, would you have the YN-622C then? If so it may be worth trying those with the B1600 to get the Long Duration (Supersync). Once the YN-622C-TX is available with a timing adjustment you should be able to get at least some decent results with the B1600.

The HSS mode in the AD360 will loose another stop of light otherwise. Its a lot better than HSS with speedlights, but its still only equivalent to 1/2 power on the AB800 then. Its just that you can use any shutter speed or aperture then (without an ND filter). And any power level on the flash down to 1/8th.

  12. Charles Farrah 5 years ago

I do have the yn622c! How do I engage super sync mode!?

    • Author
      Flash Havoc 5 years ago

      Hi Charles,

There’s not much to it. Just make sure HSS is selected in the cameras external flash control menu, and connect the YN-622C receiver to the AB1600 via sync cord to the YN-622C PC sync port.

You will need to experiment with shutter speeds and power levels on the flash. The AB has a longer duration at lower power, so you might like to try at 1/4 power or so first and see how far you can raise the shutter speed before you start to get shutter in the frame.

Once the YN-622C-TX is available, that may help a lot to get better results as you can adjust the timing.

There is also a graphic explanation of the Long Duration Sync here.

  13. Sandro 5 years ago

In theory the 360 is about 4 times as powerful as a regular speedlight correct? Would it also be 4 times as powerful in HSS mode?

    Thanks!

    • Author
      Flash Havoc 5 years ago

      Hi Sandro,

Yes, its actually generally more powerful in HSS than equivalent speedlights.

The downside to that is that its limited to 10 consecutive shots at full power when in H-mode. So if you need full power with HSS, it can be better to use long duration sync as an alternative, as that allows 75 consecutive full power pops.

There will be a US option for the Godox QS and QT Monolights later this summer. We should also be carrying the new version of the Exenergizer. They will be sold as Godox and not rebadged with a US 2 year warranty.

Guys EachShot.com have the Godox AD360 kit with PB-960 battery pack available again for just $376 with FlashHavoc Discount.

This deal is for THIS WEEK ONLY (9th June 2014), and its very likely the last time there will be discount prices like this.

So if you’re interested don’t miss out this time, as they won’t be able to offer this again. Thanks.
