PRIOLITE – Adds HotSync for LEICA Cameras

Priolite have added Leica to their list of HotSync compatible camera systems, with the Control A HotSync-L transmitter expected to be available in the US around the end of April 2017.

The Priolite HotSync system uses an optimized Long Duration Sync method to provide camera shutter speeds up to 1/8000s, with Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, and now Leica camera systems, using a corresponding transmitter for each system.

The Control A HotSync-L transmitter provides remote control for 4 groups of lights, with a long range of up to 300 meters.

Compatible Priolite strobes include the recent compact MBX 500 Ultra HotSync, and Priolite’s range of HotSync Lithium-ion battery powered strobes –

  • MBX 500 Ultra HotSync
  • MBX 500 HotSync,
  • MBX 1000 HotSync
  • M-PACK 1000 HotSync

Customers caught up in Priolite’s previous KickStarter campaign, or those having experienced less than ideal service, may also be pleased to hear Priolite’s US distributorship is thankfully now under new management.

And keen to restore Priolite’s reputation for high quality products and service.

The Priolite Control A HotSync-L transmitters are expected to be available in the US around the end of April 2017 for $295.

So, since the US distributors who did the Kickstarter promotion failed (I got my light but read elsewhere tales of woe), did Priolite indicate where and how they’d be available in the US?

I’ve also seen elsewhere a gent say he’s the new distributor but haven’t reached out to confirm that.

      Hi Earle,

At this stage they only appear to be available directly from the distributor. As far as I understand this is the current website here.

      (This was the previous one).

It definitely appears to be two separate entities. Hopefully the new one will be more stable.

New official distributor for PRIOLITE in the US claims that Kickstarter was a SCAM (see his comments on Fstoppers and the Kickstarter itself). I am still waiting for a refund…. We are in May 2017 now…

      • Ricky 3 weeks ago

Charly you need to file a dispute with your credit card company for a refund. Kickstarter doesn’t give refunds and Priolite was not involved. Really sorry to hear about your trouble, others have had this issue resolved by filing a credit card dispute.

Does Leica use the M43 flash standard? Metz typically lists one model TTL flash applicable for Leica / Olympus / Panasonic. Might this Priolite be useable across the 3 brands?

      Hi Sam,

That is interesting. It looks like they certainly share at least some of the same system, though I don’t know if its the same across all of the Leica system.

I guess Priolite are only claiming compatibility with the few Leica models, and not the whole range of Olympus and Panasonic cameras, (even if they may work).

I wonder of this also means the Godox etc systems for Panasonic should work just as well with Leica than as well?

Sam, I thought the same thing. And when I bought from the previous US distributor, I’d asked about M43 compatibility and was told it may happen in the future. I guess only time will tell.
