SMDV B500 TTL – Cordless Flash Announced

SMDV B500 TTL

Ahead of Photokina 2018, SMDV have released images of the upcoming 500Ws B500 TTL cordless flash.

Like their current smaller brother, the BRiHT-360 TTL, the B500 feature TTL and HSS with Canon, Nikon, and Fuji camera systems, with support for Sony also coming in 2019.

The B500 now use a larger omega shaped plug in flash tube, with centered 12W LED modelling light. As well as a cleverly designed Bowens S-type modifier mount.

Also featuring a 10 stop power range down to 1/512, and 2.2 second full power recycle time.

The B500 provide a built in Lithium-ion battery offering 300 full power shots per charge, though an AC power adapter will also be available.

SMDV have also announced an AC powered 500Ws flash in the new A500, which is manual only. And interestingly the A500 will also offer a DC battery pack option. So both flashes actually offer AC and DC power options.

Looks really bad ass and I like the s-fit mount. GODOX should get that designer from SMDV.

I have updated the post with some specs for the B500.

Surprised it is a full sized Bowens S-type compatible mount used. That is a really clever design for an S-type compatible mount!

I wonder if its a nice spring loaded fit. In any case its a place to start for a compact mount.

Nice strobes. Just hope there is a way to mount an umbrella securely.
Would also love to see an SMDV speedlite for a more complete system.
