With frustration levels mounting among many expectant customers YongNuo have finally provided an update, and a rough estimate of October 2014 availability for the much anticipated YN-600EX-RT flash unit.
The Canon RT compatible YN-600EX-RT flash was unofficially announced in September 2013, along with the YN-E3-RT transmitter unit, which is now available.
YongNuo (until now) have not actually previously provided any estimate or indication of when the flash unit could be expected.

Since the announced plan of our YN600EX-RT flash have been brought out unofficially in many websites and forums. A lot photographic fans keep concerning the trend of the unit. However, the unit has been in unexpected longer testing phase towards more reliable and better performance. The release date could not be confirmed.
According to the latest news from the R&D department, the YN600EX-RT will be estimate released in ABOUT October, 2014 if in smooth progress. We hope it will perform well and worth being waited.
Thanks for your attention and support to our products!
Best Regards,
YONGNUO
October may even be quite a rough estimate though, as many manufacturers aim their major product releases for the Photokina trade show, which will be held in September this year. So its no surprise to hear a date of around October mentioned.
As we have seen a number of times previously though, an announcement at Photokina does not necessarily indicate when a product will actually be available.
At least there has been some insight provided now, and we can stop holding our breaths. For few months at least.
Thanks for the updates! Hmmm… hopefully the Canon version will go back on sale at near 400… I think I’m gonna grab 2 within a month and wait for more later this year when the Yongnuo are available. Too bad I could have spent that money on lens!
Whilst this is a nice product, i think there are many who are waiting for a flash with built in 622 Rx.
yessssssssss!
Surely.
I’d rather like to see a separate receiver for the Canon RT-system, though, for bringing older flashes like Canon 580 EX II or the YN 565 EX and YN 568 I/II models into the new system.
THAT would be an outstanding product, especially as Canon doesn’t offer something like this.
There are already rumours about a RT-receiver for studio lights, so maybe a TTL speedlite version is coming, too. Actually would also like a low-cost, simple receiver for firing simple flashes like YN 560, too.
As much as I love the 622, as far as I’ve read, the two-way communication of the RT-system is far superior. Seeing from camera if all flashes have recycled can be worth a lot in larger setups…
Will this being able to work with nikon
Hi Anthony,
No this is for Canon only. It may fire on Nikon cameras as a basic manual flash, but that would be all.
For Nikon, YongNuo have the separate YN-622-TX / YN-622 TTL triggers, and YN-568EX flash units. Thanks.
I have read more positive reviews on the transmitter YN-E3-RT, but a few reviews that are just so-so.
I hope the speedlite will be a bigger/better outcome ? I do not know how good Yongnuo is about customer service ? But I keep wishing and hoping that the updates to the transmitter get all the bugs out as well as the new speedlite comes out great ! Both items are a lot better price point than the canon models. Approximately $499 for the canon 600 ex-rt and $300 something for the canon transmitter AND the yongnuo’s both seem to have more features for a lot less money ! Kepp your fingers crossed !
I think all electronic devices have various bugs (which is the purpose of firmware updates). I have the YN-E3-RT and use it with my Canon 600EX-RT and have had no issues whatsoever. Works like a charm and definitely love the AF assist beam; it has come in quit handy several times. Since Yongnuo is a Chinese company, not sure how helpful their customer service might be, besides I’ve never had to call them. I’ve also use the Yongnuo RF603C’s for years and no issues.
Thanks for posting this update. Wondering where the hinted legacy speedlight receiver (for use with the Canon 600 system) is in the pipeline.
Hi tomK,
As far as I am aware YongNuo have only hinted towards a compatible larger studio / monolight solution.
YongNuo could get a little Canon on our asses, and only allow YongNuo (or Canon) flashes with the RT system.
I hope that’s not the case, but I wouldn’t be surprised if third party companies also use the evolution of built in radio to help lock others out of their systems.
…
I heard some rumours, probably going on a year ago now, that YongNuo had closed something like 5 of their factories. I have no idea how true that is, or even how significant that would really be in terms of their complete production capability.
Though from what we have seen since, it certainly appears like their production capability has greatly reduced, and these new products are just trickling out very slowly now.
Maybe there will be some bigger announcements towards Photokina in September again. Though as we have seen, when these products are actually going to be available is another thing.
They have solid build products but they don’t have great marketing and support team. Development has been so slow lately and lack of customer communication / relation skill.
I’m using 565EX as my back/rim light. But I’m thinking about switching to Godox V86C. YN-622CTX still NOT available at the moment since last year. I don’t hold high hope on YN anymore …
Thank you for this update. I was waiting, waiting, waiting for the 600. I couldn’t wait any longer and went with the phottix mitros+. I’m extremely happy with by purchase but this huge delay solidifies my choice even further.
Preorder for 300$ on official website? Come on, original 600ex-rt costs 450$ with Canon warranty in my local store. Buying a chinese version for 66% price is just not worth the risks.
Transmitter for 50% of original price was OK, keeping in mind its additional AF assist. But the flash does not compete so well, so why wait for it?
Hi Strober,
There is only one official YongNuo Store, and that is on Ebay
.
I wouldn’t trust that site you’re likely referring to. Trying to pass themselves off as YongNuo, as well as offering over inflated pre-orders for gear that is not yet available (and quite a few months away). Thanks.
Didn’t know that website isn’t official, thanks for warning.
Hello there,
Thanks for the update on the yn-600EX-RT. I know you must be growing very tired of this question but any update on the release of the remote manual for yn-560III? I have 6 yn-560III which I love and have been using them on daily basis.
However, I am seriously starting to consider switching camps to godox/lencarta/cheetah etc camp not only because of a well integrated manual control over flashes but also the diversity within the lineup of their products. C’mon YN! Everybody and their dog has manual control these days but us…Don’t make me do the switch.
After the let down in reliability of the YN-E3-RT I really don’t care. I am sure the YN-600-RT will have a never ending stream of firmware updates, compatibility issues, and frustrating trigger failures to match the YN-E3-RT, and for what difference in price?
Really, after being a Yongnuo fan for years, I was an early adopter of the RF-602’s (that still work perfectly) I was very keen to get the YN-E3-RT, it is a failure, and considering it only works with one high end flash it is a waste of time. There are so many better options out there for flash users, even if you are into the Canpn RT system and want an ST-E3-RT you can get a 2×600 kit with the ST that ends up costing less than 2 600’s and a YN.
Agree; not impressed with the YN-E3-RT. I will be looking at the new Cactus products.
As of today the flash shows up on Yongnuo’s website in their flash lineup.
Will it take a battery pack, unlike the YN 568?
Hi Johnb,
Yes the YN600EX-RT had the External High voltage Battery Port (like the YN-565EX / YN-560 III etc). Thanks.
Hello, the yn-600EX RT appears from yesterday 08/24 in photos to detail and with all characteristic´s like the new launching of yongnuo in its official page
hello
Thanks for the update on the yn-600EX-RT.
I parches 600ex-rt in mumbai, india.
pls detl my mail
Its already one year they annconced in one year they can’t make dupilate its shame full
I’m hoping they’ve done some low light tests to check if the Assist Beam is good. I shot with he YN 565 and it just couldn’t find anyone at the club where I was, whereas a canon 580ex2 wouldn’t have a problem.
Any update on this please?
Hi A A,
YongNuo were estimating around the end of October for the YN-600EX-RT release. With competition from Shanny now, I’m sure they will be doing all they can to make this flash available as soon as possible.
Looks like eBay is selling 600ex as of today and Yong no now have it in their product gallery. Yeah. Bought one so hopefully it’s here in 20 days or so.
will wait for reviews first.
will this work off camera with a 622 attatched?
Yn 600 ex-rt is the best flash quality/price I had ever used! Works exactly as my two canon 600 ex-rt! Thank for the good news!
