YongNuo have announced the new YN360 LED light wand, which they are describing as an industry first LED video light made from full color RGB SMD lamps, as well as LED lamp beads.
The YN360 are formed by –
- 40 full color RGB SMD lamps
- 160 LED lamp beads with 3200k color temperature
- 160 LED lamp beads with 5500k color temperature
In Full Color RGB Mode the YN360’s 40 RGB SMD lamps can provide rich colors of red, green, and blue.
Colors can then be adjusted remotely through a smart phone APP, either by selecting from a provided color pallet, or adjusting manually to create your own preferred colors.
In Natural 3200K-5500K Color Temp Mode the YN360’s 320 LED lamp beads can be adjusted from 3200K to 5500K as required .
In this mode YongNuo claim a Color Rendering Index of 95 or higher.
Luminance levels can be controlled directly on the YN360’s interface itself, or again remotely through a smartphone APP.
The YN360 adopts YongNuo’s proprietary LED driving technology, and encoder digital dimming mode, allowing the light to be dimmed accurately and reliably.
YN360’s are powered by standard Sony NP-F style rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries.
NP-F750 are recommended, and provide –
- 2 hours at maximum brightness in 3200K-5500K Color Temp Mode
- 4 hours at maximum brightness in RGB Full Color Mode.
The YN360 also provide support for a DC power adapter (8 V 5 A).
A standard 1/4″ 20 threaded mounting hole is provided at the base of the YN360’s handle.
The YN360’s light board is approximately 39.5 cm long, and 4.8 cm wide.

Looks like a step up from other similar offerings.
Another new toy to buy!!
I bought CameraPlus CP-MTLII a while go (amazon has it). It is a good led and i like it. I don’t know how long it will last but for the cost compared to Ice Light, i can live with it. In fact I will get two more.
I have been using MLT900 for 2 years now and I do not see any reason to spend extra money or Ice-light… This seems to be another competitive option to it 🙂
New toy and laser saber!
i will give this a try , i hope the price would be under 150$
since the MTL 900 II has a mangenta tint , would be a nice upgrade for me . if it true that this has 95+ cri .
Andrew, thought you might like to know that the awful magenta cast of the MTL 900 can be corrected with some gels. By using a 1/4 plus green, 1/8 plus green, and 1/8 CTB it brings the Temp and Tint to 5100K, +1 as measured with a colorchecker passport in LR (for those who don’t know, out of the box the tint correction is -35, which means that any other light sources you might be balancing with will be shifted to green when you correct for the MTL’s magenta cast).
I ordered the gels from B&H and gaffer taped them to the light. It kills about 1 stop of light but even with that adjustment it’s 1 stop brighter than the original ICE Light. I have two of these and I actually sold my ice lights and replaced them with the MTL’s. The extra stop of light and cheap replaceable batteries were worth the slightly ghetto appearance of gaffer tape and gels.
When i am shooting with it , i use a custom white balance and the tind is not that dominant .
I got a message from yongnou that this YN360 will come soon to the market , there’s no ETA .
once hits the market i will order it .
Any idea if you’ll be able to set this to change colour in a pattern or strobe? Would be useful for some basic PixelStick type light painting.
Falcon eyes also made a saber one wand led lamp
it cost 149€ .
Any release time for this one ?
Looks like these were released! Look to be 129.00 from their store. I didnt see any at the official amazon store though. Did see some on amazon from dhphoto for a little over 100. Who knows when BH will get them.

Andrew, did you get it? Are you satisfied?
hey there ,
stay tuned becouse shottly i will upload a video to youtube
but overall is a nice lamp
Great to read, will look forward to the video.
After seeing Andrew’s video, I placed an order via Amazon on April 4 and the YN360 arrived yesterday while I was out on another shoot. (The estimated arrival was May 16)
Since I may be the only photographer in the world without a stack of NP F750’s lying around, I included one and a changer in the order. The battery is now (slowly) charging as I type. I have a shoot and will test this Friday.
Hmm, mine may be a brick. It powered up briefly, long enough for me to adjust a few of the controls, then went dead. I left the battery to a full charge, so tomorrow I’ll go hunt another battery or power supply.
Quick update for everyone. I ordered a replacement battery from a local shop — they tested the battery originally shipped and it did not charge. The YN360 does work with the new battery.
Will be doing a full review on my website once i get mine!
I have one and it’s great – the phone app allows you to trace your fingers across the UI to change the colours while you are lightpainting with it. it’s amazing.
Anyone with problems to connect to smartphone via Bluetooth? Know how to?
This article has an incorrect fact. There is no “8 channel grouping function.”
