YOUPRO – PRO 6 – TTL Trigger for Canon & Nikon

YouPro, or, are another new brand emerging from China. And as well as battery grips and various shutter releases, YouPro will also kick off with the competitively priced Pro 6 TTL flash triggers for Canon and Nikon.

YouPro products are very likely another variation of Pixel HK products, and a representative from YouPro has confirmed the new Pro 6 will have the same function as the original Pixel Kings (not the more advance King Pro).

Though its not clear at this stage if the Pro 6 will actually be directly compatible with the existing Kings.

YouPro pointed out the difference the new Pro 6 have over the original Kings, is an additional LCD screen, and the battery door is now captured so they won’t get lost.

Though from the images we can also see the Pro 6 are now transceivers, so the transmitter and receiver are the same units, and can be manually switched to operate as one or the other (TX or RX).

And other refinements include a 3.5mm sync port instead of the old PC sync port, and more simple group and channel selection.

There is no AF assist light included in the front of the units though.

The English version of the user manual is still being written at the moment, so the full function for the Pro 6 is not completely clear as yet.

YouPro have said the function is the same as the Pixel Kings though, so that means most of the control of the Canon version at least (for TTL ratios and manual power control), will still be through the cameras flash control menu. And the Pro 6 LCD screen will likely only show basic information like the Group and Channel selected etc.

The Nikon version may be limited to simple TTL operation without ratios or manual power control, as the original Kings are.

This may sound like a step backwards from the recent Pixel King Pro. But with an expected retail price around $69.99 a pair, the Pro 6 will be much cheaper than the King Pro, and even the original Kings.

The Pro 6 though are clearly aimed at being a more price competitive alternate to the popular YongNuo YN-622C and YN-622N. The pro 6 offering a slightly better user interface, and sync cords also included for the price.

The YongNuo triggers will still be tough to beat though, as the new YN-622-TX transmitter offers an interface providing function close to the King Pro and higher end triggers like the Phottix Odin.

Features Likely –

  • FSK 2.4GHz Radio System – Operation Range up to 100M
  • HSS – FP High Speed Sync up to 1/8000th with suitable TTL Flashes
  • SuperSync – Sync up to 1/8000th with suitable Studio Lights.
  • Second Curtain Sync
  • FEL – Flash Exposure Lock works with ETTL
  • 3 Groups and 7 Channels
  • Remote Flash Zoom

Its not clear as yet whether there will be a full TTL Pass Through Hotshoe on the Canon version. And like the Pixel Kings and YN-622C, MKII style Canon compatible flashes would need to be used for any remote manual power control.

The YouPro Pro 6 should be available soon in Canon and Nikon versions, with price expected around $69.99 a pair.

Keep an eye out on Ebay and Amazon etc for listings.

I think we are going to see many more ttl hss triggers now that the code is out there readily available.

Apparently, Shanny will be using “these” for their proprietary RF system of flashes and triggers.

Let’s hope they’ve added an A/F assist light and fully functional pass-thru hotshoe.
